*Painted for our 2022 exhibit, “Birds of Algonquin”

Artist Comments: “One early misty morning while canoeing with my wife at Algonquin Park in the area of Lake Opeongo, we noticed, no more than 20 feet to our right in the thick of the mist was this Common Loon. As it quietly sat on the water, I thought what an opportune time to take reference shots. As I prepared the camera for the setting it started to lift and stretch its wings as if to move on. Many reference shots were taken of his movements until at the very last it made its laughing tremolo yodeling sound. I hope in this painting I have captured that moment, mood, feeling and sound.”
