Artist Biography

I strive to infuse depth and atmosphere into my compositions, portraying scenes often overlooked by the casual observer. They are rarely recreations of specific events, but composites of multiple experiences distilled down to what I hope will effectively convey what I have found to be truly beautiful and meaningful in what I have seen.

In my early years, my interest in drawing led me to channel my artistic abilities into the field of commercial art. While earning a living as an illustrator, I continued to pursue my passion for drawing and painting animals, eventually becoming a full-time painter.

My work is represented in numerous private and corporate collections in Canada, the US and Europe. It has been profiled in magazines and showcased in several art books. Over the years I have designed numerous coins for the Royal Canadian Mint, and painted images that have appeared on conservation stamps and prints. My paintings have been exhibited at the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Wyoming, the Algonquin Art Center in Ontario, the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum in Wisconson as well as the Bennington Center for the Arts in Vermont. In 2012, the Centre Culturel Yvonne L. Bombardier in Valcourt, Quebec held a retrospective exhibition of my work spanning 30 years. I currently live in Pierrefonds, Quebec.
