Eulalie’s Journey to Algonquin with Tom Thomson – Reading and Art Workshop
Eulalie’s Journey to Algonquin Park Reading and Collage Workshop
A lyrical insight into the life of Canadian Artist Tom Thomson for the younger reader. Catherine Wilson (author) and Ruth MacLean (illustrator) will be reading from their book with a fun collage workshop to follow with artist Ruth. Ruth will also bring her original collage work to show, so children can see close up the many different pieces and shapes of colour paper.. some cut, some torn, that work together to create the image. All supplies will be included. Books will be for sale.
The book describes Tom Thomson’s last spring in Algonquin Park, where he spent five productive years painting, later enlarging this work in his Toronto studio. His faithful dog, Eulalie, tells the story in a way that draws children into the business of being a working artist, especially one who camped out doors and fished for his supper.
