Pinhole Photography @ Algonquin Art Centre

Experience the magic of non-digital (analogue) photography. Each participant will use a cardboard pinhole camera to take photographs around the Algonquin ArtCentre. These paper photos will be developed one at a time by hand (using eco-friendly developer made from coffee) in a portable darkroom tent. Next, paper photographs will be made without a camera: a contact print from your favourite pinhole camera negative and photograms of found objects and shapes, all hand-developed. Any person interested in creating images will enjoy this session, regardless of their level of experience in photography. Your photographic creations come alive and magically appear before your eyes; a thrill that is never forgotten!

Rare Tom Thomson Original Returns to Algonquin @ Algonquin Art Centre

A rare Tom Thomson original will be on display for our first ever “Artists Day” on July 8th, from 10 am to 5 pm.  The painting, called  “The Valley, Winter – Algonquin Park”, has been authenticated as a Thomson original only recently  by art historian and Thomson expert David Silcox.
We are honoured to be one of the first galleries to ever display this rare Thomson winter scene and hope you can join us on the 8th to see this painting in person.
A huge thank you to the owner of this piece who generously agreed to lend us their treasure for our 2018 “Artists Day”.

Free Admission.
