Arnold Nogy

Georgian Aurora

Although Arnold Nogy was born and raised in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, he was artistically awakened and educated on Georgian Bay. Summers spent at his family's cottage north of Honey Harbour afforded Arnold wonderful opportunities for outside exploration, sketching and painting. He remembers studying the tiny details of leaves, insects, birds and flowers, as well the grand vistas of craggy rocks, windswept pines and rippling waters.

With his home and studio now situated on 50 acres of forested land near Orillia, Ontario, Arnold has retained his childhood fascination of nature and an appreciation for the fine gifts it freely offers. "It's like celebrating creation. When God said 'This is good,' how right He was. I am just agreeing that creation is good and amazing."

Arnold's love of nature translates directly onto his canvas. Some viewers are amazed at Arnold's passionate devotion to accuracy, while others are moved by the near-breathing quality of his depictions of wildlife and people. While renowned for his strong drawing ability, Arnold also focuses on aspects of overall composition, including light direction, the use of colour and the handling of a chosen medium, with thoughtful consideration as to the limitations and benefits of that medium.

Arnold enjoys being experimental. He constantly makes notes and sketches of new ideas and experiments with progressive subject matter, paper and mediums. His willingness to pursue new discoveries has allowed him to break through to new levels with his art and to grow as an artist.

Arnold is uncompromising in keeping his promise to himself and his collector clients in producing art that is innovative and continuously increasing in quality and maturity.
