BIOGRAPHY

Hockley

It is easy to see, through his sculptures, the passion for animals that Kevin Hockley possesses. Born in Collingwood, Hockley grew up in rural southern Ontario, developing a keen interest in nature and the outdoors from adolescence. His interests in nature and the outdoors aided him immensely in developing his many skills as an artist. At the age of fifteen, Hockley took up the study of taxidermy, which led to his employment as senior taxidermist for the Royal Ontario Museum from 1984 until 1996. It was there that he became skilled in modeling animals and familiarizing himself with animal anatomy inside and out. This inspired Hockley to begin creating bronze sculptures.

Kevin's work is currently displayed in museums across North America, including, The Royal Ontario Museum, The Royal Saskatchewan Museum, The Indiana State Museum, and the Algonquin Art Centre to name a few, and is treasured in numerous private collections. Kevin now operates a studio near Maynooth, Ontario.
